Start Early

If you want to be a driver, you have to start very early. In the early years of childhood, people often mold themselves into what they will become later in life. How Difficult Is It To Become an F1 Driver?

It’s really hard to become an F1 driver! This is a very elite sport and its drivers are blessed with natural talent. They also have an extremely high level of fitness, as driving these ultra-fast machines puts great strain on the body. The truth is that a lot of F1 drivers are the sons of former F1 drivers. Others may be children of rich parents. While there are exceptions, it’s safe to say that money, connections and a family which is involved with karting, Formula One racing and the racing world in general will give an aspiring driver a huge advantage.

How Much Does a Formula 1 Driver Earn?

Salaries for Formula One drivers vary. The best drivers, who earn rides with the most prestigious teams, will command higher salaries. For example, Kimi Raikkonen, who is a Finnish racing legend, earns sixteen million dollars per year and also gets bonuses. Kimi drives for Ferrari. Another Formula One race car driver who earns a bundle (and far more than Kimi) is Sebastian Vettel. Vettel is German and his blistering speed and consistency means that Ferrari give him fifty million dollars a year! Clearly, he outpaces his teammate in terms of performance and salary alike!

Some drivers don’t get these big bucks for being in Formula One. For example, a few drivers have “bought their rides”. They don’t necessarily fork over the cash themselves.
